The engraving on the back is not visible while the bracelet is worn: that is the point, but it is worth knowing before giving it.
One letter per side on the back, set in capitals: no full first name, no date.

The shaka is the Hawaiian gesture of the thumb and little finger, taken up by surfers: it means “all good”, “good vibes”. It is a friendly sign rather than a sea symbol, which makes it giveable to someone who does not surf.

On the back, the two initials and the symbol read as on our couple bracelets. Many people use them for a travel date or two friends’ initials: the front stays neutral, and only the wearer knows what is behind.

What is engraved on the back of the bead?

Is the personalisation compulsory?

No. The fields on the back can be left empty: the bracelet then ships with the shaka alone, engraved on the front. It is the only one in the range whose personalisation is optional, and it costs nothing extra.

Can the engraving on the back be seen while wearing the bracelet?

No, and that is the whole idea. The engraved face is turned towards the wrist: only the person wearing it, and the person who gave it, know what is there.

What does the shaka mean?

It is the Hawaiian sign made with the thumb and the little finger extended, adopted by surfers everywhere. It means “all good”, “good vibes”, and is used to greet someone from a distance. A gesture of goodwill more than a nautical symbol.

What is the difference with the wave bracelet?

The shaka is a gesture, sociable and recognisable, with a back you can personalise. The wave is a motif, silent, with nothing to fill in. One is chosen for what it says to others, the other for what it does not.

How do I choose my size?

Measure your wrist with a soft tape or a piece of string, just below the bone. Size 1 covers 15 to 18 cm, size 2 covers 18 to 21 cm, size 3 covers 21 to 24 cm; two children’s sizes, 11 to 16 cm, are available on some models. Each bracelet is then adjusted by pulling on the cords: the size gives a comfort range, not a fixed measurement.

Is the bracelet water-resistant?

The braided marine cord handles water without trouble. Cherry wood is a living material: avoid long baths, swimming pools and saunas, and dry it if it gets caught in the rain. It develops a patina over time, which is normal.

How do I care for the wood?

A drop of jojoba oil, or any neutral vegetable oil, on a soft cloth whenever the wood looks dry or dull: it feeds the wood and revives its colour. Nothing else is needed.

How long does it take to make and ship?

Every bracelet is engraved to order in our workshop in Aveyron, France, then shipped within 48 h, to your door or to a pickup point. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout.

Does it arrive ready to give?

Yes. It ships in a natural kraft box tied with string, with no plastic: it can be given as it is, with no extra wrapping.

Is it suitable for men and women?

Yes, it is unisex. Sizes 1 to 3 cover wrists from 15 to 24 cm, and two children’s sizes, 11 to 16 cm, are available on some models.

Can I give it without knowing their wrist size?

Yes. Each bracelet adjusts along the whole range of its size thanks to the sliding knots, and size 2 (18 to 21 cm) fits most adult wrists. If in doubt, quietly measure a watch or a bracelet they already wear.

How far ahead should I order for a specific date?

Allow 48 h for engraving, then two to three days in transit and two days more for the crossing from France. For a fixed date — a birthday, Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas — order ten days ahead to be safe.
