Weight and time are only known after the birth: a print ordered beforehand is still a fine gift, but it will not carry them.

What occasions is a birth print given for?
Coming home is the right moment: the name, the hour and the weight are known, and the house is being rearranged around the baby. It is also given at the christening, at the first birthday, or at a baby shower with the name alone. Grandparents often give it at the first Christmas, once a photograph finally exists.
Can it be ordered before the birth?
Yes, provided you accept that the weight, the length and the time will be missing: they are only known afterwards. The layout stays balanced without them — empty medallions disappear rather than leaving a hole. If you want everything on it, wait for the announcement: prints are made to order, there is no stock to anticipate.
Which size suits a nursery?
30 × 40 cm is the truest above a cot or a changing table: large enough to read standing up, small enough not to overwhelm a small room. A4 suits a busy wall or an existing frame; 50 × 70 belongs in a hallway or a living room rather than beside a bed.
Frame it, or buy the print alone?
The four commonest sizes match standard frames sold everywhere, and many parents already own one. Take the frame if the gift is handed over on the day and has to go up straight away — a rolled sheet left at the foot of a crib often waits months.
What if the name changes at the last minute?
Prints are made to order, so write to us as soon as you can: while the file has not gone to the printer, the name can still be corrected. After that the piece is personalised and cannot be redone without a fresh print run.
