Two nights that matter, side by side: the evening you met and the day you said ‘I do’, the births of your two children, the first date and the proposal. For each one, you give the place, the date and the time; we calculate where every star stood above that spot at that moment, and draw the constellations.
Under each sky, a caption you write — “The night we met”, “Our wedding” — then the date and the place. Beneath them, a shared title — often your two names —, a subtitle and a dedication. The two skies are calculated separately, each at the local time of its own place, daylight saving accounted for: two cities, two nights, two skies.

Frequently asked questions
What is a double star map for?
To bring together two nights from the same story: the night you met and your wedding day for a wedding anniversary, the first date and the proposal for Valentine’s Day, two children’s births for their parents. Each sky carries its own caption, its date and the name of its town.
Can the two skies be in two different cities, or two countries?
Yes. Each disc has its own place, date and time, and its sky is calculated separately, at the local time of that place. Meeting in Manchester and marrying in Lisbon gives two different skies, each with the name of its town printed beneath it.
Can the two dates be decades apart, even before we were born?
Yes, each date is up to you. The calculation allows for the slow shift of the sky over the decades: your parents’ wedding and your own, thirty years apart, or a grandmother’s birth and her grandson’s, each show the sky of their own night.
What should the caption under each sky say?
Whatever that night means, in 28 characters at most: “Where we met”, “I do”, a first name for a birth. The caption is optional; without it, the disc keeps its date and its town. Beneath both comes a shared title of up to 24 characters, often your two names, then a subtitle and a dedication.
What if both nights happened in the same place?
Enter the same place twice: the two skies still differ, because the stars above a spot change with the date and the time. The same town is then printed under both discs, and the caption says which of the two nights each one shows.
What does the star map show?
The stars visible to the naked eye (down to magnitude 6) above the place, at the chosen date and time, with the constellations. North is at the top, the horizon at the edge of the disc, like a planisphere.
Is the sky accurate?
Positions are computed from the Hipparcos catalogue, precession included, at the local time of the place (daylight saving accounted for). Accuracy is around a tenth of a degree.
Which date and time should I enter?
Those of the moment you want to keep: a birth, a first meeting, a wedding. The time is the local time at the place; if you don’t know it, pick nightfall, around 10 pm.

A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm: standard frame sizes, easy to find (IKEA, HEMA, Action, Desenio). Optional wooden frame on the A4 and 30 × 40, in black, white or natural, with acrylic glass; the larger sizes ship rolled, to frame at home.
What paper is the poster printed on?
