Full description

All your trips on a single print: the world drawn in dots, your home town marked with a little house, and each trip linked to it by a fine arc, numbered in the order you choose. Underneath, the key — Lisbon 2015, New York 2017, Kyoto 2022 — then four figures worked out for you: the number of trips, countries and continents, and the kilometres travelled together.

You search for each place as you would on an online map — a city, an island, a lake — and it lands by itself; from two to twelve trips. When all your places, home included, fit on the map of Europe — from the Canaries to the North Cape — it zooms in on it; otherwise it shows the world. The kilometres count each trip there and back from home, as the crow flies. Four styles (paper, minimal on white, midnight blue, sage), and one colour per continent, on the map and in the key. A gift for a couple who love to travel, a dating or wedding anniversary, a retirement.

  • 250 g matte paper, pigment inks, printed to order.
  • Five sizes: A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm.
  • Optional wooden frame on the A4 and 30 × 40, black, white or natural.
  • Or the print-ready file: all five sizes, each as a PDF and a 300 dpi PNG, by download link.

The poster, once printed

  • Paper-coloured poster: the world in blue-grey dots, eight arcs from Toulouse, brick red to Lisbon and Reykjavik, blue to New York and Montreal, green to Marrakech and Cape Town, ochre to Tokyo and Bali; Léa & Thomas, 8 trips, 8 countries, 4 continents, 97,265 kilometres — shown in the French version
  • White poster: the world in grey dots, nine arcs from Bordeaux, each in the colour of its continent, from Venice in 1986 to Marrakech in 2025 by way of Kyoto, Sydney and Patagonia; Anne & Pierre, 9 trips, 8 countries, 6 continents marked by six coloured dots, 129,575 kilometres — shown in the French version
  • Midnight blue poster: a dotted world map with eight arcs from Toulouse, gold to Europe, sky blue to New York and Montreal, green to Marrakech and Cape Town, coral to Tokyo and Bali; Léa & Thomas, 8 trips, 8 countries, 4 continents, 97,265 kilometres — shown in the French version

How it works

  1. Search for your home town, then each place you’ve been

A city, an island, a lake: the place lands on the map, linked to home by an arc, with the year if you like. From two to twelve trips, numbered in the order of your list.

  2. The figures work themselves out; you pick the style

Trips, countries, continents and kilometres travelled, there and back, as the crow flies. The map zooms in on Europe when every place, home included, fits on it; each continent has its own colour, in all four styles, from paper to midnight blue.

  3. We print in France

To order, on 250 g matte paper: in our Aveyron workshop up to 40 × 60, at our printer beyond that, and every poster comes back through the workshop before it ships. Or you receive the download link for the file by e-mail.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good gift for a couple who love to travel?

A travel map: the world drawn in dots, their home town marked with a little house, each trip linked to it by an arc and numbered, with the year, then the number of trips, countries and continents and the kilometres travelled together. It suits a dating or wedding anniversary, a retirement or a couple who have everything, and it is made to order.

How do I add a trip?

Type the place — a city, an island, a lake, a region — and click “Search”: it lands on the map and its name goes into the key. If you retype a place, it leaves the map until you search again, so that one name is never printed in place of another.

How many trips can I add?

From two to twelve. Any more and the key would no longer fit on a 30 × 40 cm print without dropping below a size you can read from across the room. The same place can appear twice, for two trips: the two markers sit side by side, each linked to its spot.

How are the kilometres worked out?

Each trip counts as a journey there and back from your home, as the crow flies: the shortest distance across the globe, not the route you actually took by train or plane. So the figure is a good rough guide, always a little under the distance you really covered.

How are countries and continents counted?

They are the countries and continents of the places you travelled to, your own country included if one of your trips took you there. Continents follow the United Nations geographic regions: Central America and the Caribbean count as North America, Turkey is in Asia, and an overseas region counts towards the continent it lies in — Guadeloupe in North America, Réunion in Africa. On the print, each continent has its own colour (the arc, the marker and its number in the key), and the small dots under the continents figure are the colour key.

Does the map show the world or Europe?

Set to Automatic, it shows Europe when all your places, home included, fit on its map — from Iceland to the Caucasus, from the Canaries and Morocco to the North Cape — and the world as soon as one goes further: on the whole world, eight European trips would fit under a thumb. You can always choose the world; Europe only when everything fits, otherwise a trip would be drawn off the map. The world runs from Tierra del Fuego to Svalbard: a trip to Antarctica sits on the bottom edge of the map.

Where does the map come from?

The land comes from Natural Earth, a public-domain map of the world, redrawn as a grid of dots; an island too small to land on a dot still keeps one. Places are found with OpenStreetMap. Borders are not drawn: only the land and your trips.

Is what I see what I will receive?

Yes: the preview is composed by the same editor as the print, and a “Check your poster” screen opens before it goes into your cart. The greyed-out trips and home town are only an example: they disappear as soon as you put your first place on the map and are never printed.

Which sizes and frames?

A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm: standard frame sizes, easy to find. Optional wooden frame on the A4 and 30 × 40, in black, white or natural, with acrylic glass; the larger sizes ship rolled, to frame at home.

What paper is the poster printed on?

250 g/m² satin matte paper, lightfast pigment inks. Printed to order in our workshop up to 40 × 60, by our printer beyond that. Shipped rolled, in a sturdy long cardboard box; the A4 travels flat, in a stiff card envelope.

Can I get the file instead of the poster?

Yes. The print-ready file contains all five sizes, each as a PDF and as a 300 dpi PNG — ten files in all, by a download link sent after payment, to print wherever you like.

How long does it take?

Your poster is dispatched within 48 hours, then delivered in six to seven days to Ireland and the rest of the EU (four to five in France) — to your home or a pickup point, home delivery only for the 50 × 70 and 70 × 100. For a fixed date, allow ten days outside France. The download link for the print-ready file is sent as soon as payment is confirmed.
