Full description
A real crossword grid, built with your own words: the name of the person you’re celebrating, the town where it all began, the dog who steals socks, the dish they never share. You write six to ten words and a clue for each; the grid crosses them, numbers them and draws them like a newspaper puzzle, with the clues listed underneath under “Across” and “Down”. To solve, it is a gift that opens up: whoever gets it picks up a pencil, then hangs it. The solution is printed at the foot of the poster, upside down, as in a newspaper.
Four styles, four moods: a newspaper puzzle page, a squared school notebook with the teacher’s mark in red, a pop grid where every word has its own colour, a bistro chalkboard. You also choose the version: to solve (empty squares) or solved (the letters written in, a keepsake). The preview follows every keystroke and tells you straight away if a word doesn’t cross any other. For a milestone birthday, a wedding, grandparents, a family get-together or a colleague who is leaving.
- 250 g matte paper, pigment inks, printed to order.
- Five sizes: A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm.
- Optional wooden frame on A4 and 30 × 40, black, white or natural.
- Or the printable file: all five sizes, each as a PDF and a 300 dpi PNG, by download link.

How it works
- You write your words and their clues
Six to ten words — a name, a place, a nickname, a dish — and a clue for each. The grid crosses them, numbers them and lists the clues under “Across” and “Down”. A word that doesn’t cross any other is flagged straight away.
- You pick the style and the version
Newspaper, Notebook, Pop or Slate; to solve (empty squares, the solution printed upside down at the foot of the poster) or solved (letters filled in). The preview is what gets printed.
- We print in Aveyron
To order, on 250 g matte paper: in our Aveyron workshop, whatever the size, and every poster is checked there before it ships. Or you receive the download link for the file by e-mail.

Frequently asked questions
What does the poster show?
A crossword grid built with your own words: the title at the top, the grid with its numbered squares and, underneath, the clues listed under “Across” and “Down”. In the to-solve version the squares are empty and the solution is printed small at the foot of the poster, upside down; in the solved version the letters are written in the grid.
What is an original gift for a birthday, a wedding or a family get-together?
A crossword that is only about you: the name of the person you’re celebrating, the town where it all began, the dog’s name, the dish they never share. Whoever gets it plays first, then hangs it up. It suits a milestone birthday, grandparents, a wedding or a colleague who is leaving.
How many words, and how is the grid built?
Six to ten words, three to fourteen letters each, with a clue of 70 characters at most. The program crosses them on their shared letters, numbers them in reading order and draws the grid. Accents, spaces and hyphens are dropped from the squares (“Jean-Pierre” is written JEANPIERRE, and the clue shows “(4,6)”). If a word doesn’t cross any other, the preview says so and names it, and the order isn’t accepted until you change it.
Is it a crossword or a word search?
A crossword: the clues are written under the grid and linked to the words by a number. It is not a word search, where you hunt for words hidden among letters.
To solve or solved: which version should I choose?
To solve, the squares are empty and you play; the solution is printed upside down at the foot of the poster, as in a newspaper. Solved, the letters are written in: it is a keepsake to hang. The grid is the same in both cases.
Can you write on the poster?
It is a poster, not a notebook: the matt paper takes pencil, but the easiest way to play with several people is to order the printable file (PDF and PNG at 300 dpi, by download link) and print as many copies as there are players.
Which size should I choose?
A4 or 30 × 40 cm, the two that come framed, for a grid you read up close and fill in. 40 × 60, 50 × 70 or 70 × 100 cm for a grid read from a distance, in a living room or a party room.
Can I see the poster before ordering?
Yes. The preview follows every keystroke and is exactly what gets printed: the title, the words, their place in the grid, the numbers, the clues, the style and the version.
