Choose a sharp photo where the face is clearly visible, head-on or three-quarter view, well lit. Awake or asleep: both work well. Only the baby is painted, so a parent holding them won’t appear.

Private photo, never published, deleted thirty days after shipping (or after purchase, for the print-ready file). The painted portrait is deleted with it.

Full description

A baby painted in watercolour from their photo: the face, a smile or a sleeping face, the clothes, a soft wash of colour around them and a few splashes, on textured paper. The first name is written underneath, with a line of text if you like: the date of birth, the weight, the length.

It makes a lovely gift for a new arrival, a christening, a first birthday, or the one parents give grandparents “from the baby”: the photo, turned into something to hang in the nursery or the sitting room. Only the baby is painted: the background of the photo disappears, and in our tests a mother holding the baby disappeared too.

You upload the photo, choose a palette — sage and ochre, powder pink, ocean blue or terracotta — and the portrait appears in about thirty seconds. You see what will be printed before you order: that image, and no other, is the one that goes to print. The portrait is made by an artificial intelligence, and a likeness is not guaranteed; the photo is never published, and we delete it thirty days after your order ships — or after purchase, for the print-ready file.

  • 250 g matte paper, pigment inks, printed to order.
  • Five sizes: A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm.
  • Optional wooden frame on the A4 and 30 × 40, black, white or natural.
  • Or the print-ready file: all five sizes, each as a PDF and a 300 dpi PNG, by download link.

  • In a nursery, a mother holds her baby beneath Léo’s wall-mounted watercolour portrait; the poster is shown in French
  • A father holds Léo’s framed portrait in a bright nursery with his baby on his lap; the poster is shown in French

Frequently asked questions

What does the watercolour baby portrait poster show?

A baby painted in watercolour from their photo, with their face, their expression and their clothes, surrounded by a soft wash of colours and a few splashes, on textured paper. The first name can be written underneath in handwriting, with an optional line of text: the date of birth, the weight, the length. Four palettes to choose from: sage and ochre, powder pink, ocean blue or terracotta.

Which photo should I choose for the baby portrait?

A sharp photo where the face is clearly visible, head-on or three-quarter view, well lit. A photo from the hospital or of a first smile will work, awake or asleep: in our tests, a swaddled newborn asleep, a baby sitting up and smiling and a laughing baby all came out well. A phone photo is enough — JPG, PNG or WEBP, up to 25 MB.

Is the portrait made by artificial intelligence?

Yes. An artificial intelligence paints the portrait from your photo in about thirty seconds: it is not a hand-painted work. You see the result before you order, and exactly that image is what we print, in our workshop in Aveyron — nothing is redone or retouched between the screen and the paper.

What if the portrait doesn’t look like my baby?

You get three tries per photo, with the palette of your choice; a sharper, head-on, well-lit photo usually gives a better result. The name is written separately: you can change it at any time without redoing the portrait. The portrait is painted by an artificial intelligence, so a likeness is not guaranteed. Once the order is placed, the portrait you saw is the one that is printed; like any personalised poster, it cannot be returned, except for a fault or an error on our side.

What if a parent is holding the baby, or the baby isn’t alone in the photo?

In our tests, a baby in their mother’s arms was painted alone: the mother and the background did not appear in the portrait. A toy resting against them can, however, show up in part. If the baby is not alone in the photo, the result is not guaranteed; you see it before you order, with three tries per photo. For the whole family in one picture, there is the family portrait poster.

How do I give this portrait to new parents?

Discreetly ask a relative for a photo of the baby, or use one from the hospital or of their first smile: a single photo where the face is clearly visible. You see the portrait before you pay: if it doesn’t look like them, try another photo rather than giving it as it is. Write the first name underneath, and the date of birth, weight and length as the line of text; if the name hasn’t been chosen yet, leave the field empty.

Can I write the date of birth, weight and length under the portrait?

Yes: the first name is written underneath, with an optional line of text of up to 48 characters, for example “Born on 12 March · 3.2 kg · 50 cm”. It is in handwriting, smaller than the name, and you see it before you order.

What happens to the photo I upload?

It is only used to make your poster. It is stored in a private space, never published, and we delete it thirty days after shipping — or after purchase, for the print-ready file — along with the painted portrait. Location data in a phone photo is removed as soon as it is uploaded. To be painted, the photo is sent to an artificial intelligence service (Google), which receives it for that purpose only.

Which sizes and frames?

A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm: standard frame sizes, easy to find (IKEA, HEMA, Action, Desenio). Optional wooden frame on the A4 and 30 × 40, in black, white or natural, with acrylic glass; the larger sizes ship rolled, to frame at home.

What paper is the poster printed on?

250 g/m² satin matte paper, lightfast pigment inks. Printed to order in our workshop in Aveyron, whatever the size. Shipped rolled, in a sturdy long cardboard box; the A4 travels flat, in a stiff card envelope, and a framed poster in a cardboard box.

Can I get the file instead of the poster?

Yes. The print-ready file contains all five sizes, each as a PDF and as a 300 dpi PNG — ten files in all, by a download link sent after payment, to print wherever you like.

How long does it take?

Printed within 48 hours, then delivered to your home or a pickup point — home delivery only for the 50 × 70 and 70 × 100. The download link for the print-ready file is sent the same day.
