Full description

The year someone was born, told in one poster: some fifteen events from around the world — science, sport, culture, big news — all positive, laid out on a twelve-month timeline. And in the middle, the birth, slotted in on its real date: “1986. Twelve months, and one March day for Tom.” Every fact is dated and confirmed by at least two sources, one of which is not Wikipedia.

You write the first name, choose the date of birth — from 1960 to 2025 —, add a short line if you like, and a photo if you have one (otherwise the medallion carries the initial). Four styles: light, night, old paper or pop. The facts are not chosen: they are those of the year, as in a history book. The preview follows every keystroke and shows exactly what will be printed.

  • Poster on 250 g matte paper, pigment inks, printed to order in our workshop in Aveyron.

How it works

  1. You give a first name and a date of birth

The poster picks the year by itself: some fifteen events from around the world, from 1960 to 2025, laid out on a twelve-month timeline. The birth slots in on its real date.

  2. You choose the style

Light, night, old paper or pop, then a short line and a photo if you like. With no photo, the medallion carries the first initial.

  3. We print in Aveyron

To order, on 250 g matte paper: in our Aveyron workshop, whatever the size, and every poster is checked there before it ships. Or you receive the download link for the file by e-mail.

Frequently asked questions

What does the birth year poster show?

The year of birth told on a twelve-month timeline: some fifteen events from around the world — science, sport, culture, big news — each with its date, laid out on either side of a central line. In the middle, the person’s birth slots in on its real date, with their first name, the date in large type and their photo or initial. What you personalise: the first name, the date, a short line, the style and the photo.

Are the events checked?

Yes. Every fact is dated and confirmed by at least two sources, one of which is not Wikipedia: space agencies, sports bodies, press archives, institutional websites. When sources disagree on the day, the poster only gives the month; when they disagree more than that, the fact is dropped. We only keep events that are positive or neutral and known beyond a single country: no tragedies, no local news, no celebrity from one market only.

Can I choose which events appear on the poster?

No, and that is deliberate: they are the events of the year of birth, in the order they happened, as in a history book. Each year has between twelve and seventeen, which is never “every event of the year”. If your favourite event isn’t there, the short line under the first name is free: that is where you write what is yours.

Which years of birth are available?

From 1960 to 2025. For any other year the date is refused with a clear message: we never swap a year for its neighbour, and we don’t print a year whose facts haven’t all been checked.

Do I need the time or the place of birth?

No. Only the day, the month and the year matter: the birth is placed on the timeline on its date, between two events from around the world. The time and the place are never asked for. If you only know the birthday, any day in the right year makes a poster, but the exact day is what puts the birth in the right spot.

Do I need a photo?

No. With no photo, the medallion in the middle carries the first initial in large type. With a photo, you frame it with your finger inside the medallion; it is private, never published, and deleted thirty days after dispatch.

Who is it for, and for which occasion?

It’s a birthday gift — especially for round birthdays like 30, 40 or 50 — for a parent, a friend, a brother or a sister, or a birth gift that tells the story of the world a child is born into. It suits people who love history, culture or sport, and anyone who already has everything: it tells them they were born in the year of something.
