Which ages to write? Six ideas
  1. An age or a year, as you like: “newborn”, “1951”, “At 20”. Twenty-four characters at most.
  2. A moment is as good as an age: “Wedding day”, “First child”, “Today”.
  3. Arrange the photos in the order of time: the first is the start of the path, the last the arrival.
  4. Five photos are enough to tell a life; twelve make it a novel. Above nine, the path runs over four columns.
  5. Old photos work very well in black and white: the choice applies to all of them at once.
  6. A face in the centre of the picture: the photo is cut round, the corners disappear.

A life, step by step: five to twelve round photos set along a winding path, each with its age — “newborn”, “at 20”, “wedding day”, “today”. A gift for a milestone birthday, a retirement or grandparents to tell a story.

You upload your photos all at once and arrange them in the order of time: the path joins them, from the first to the last, doubling back from one row to the next. Under each photo you write the age or the year (twenty-four characters at most). The title, signature and date are yours. Four papers, in colour or in black and white. What you see is exactly what is printed; your photos are only used to make the poster and are deleted thirty days after dispatch.

What does the poster show?

How many photos, and which ages do I write?

Five to twelve. Under each photo you write an age, a year or a moment (twenty-four characters at most); a caption left empty is not printed, and the photo stays on the path. Arrange them in the order of time.

Are the photos cut round?

Yes, each photo is cut into a disc, a little above the middle to keep the face: the corners disappear. Keep faces in the centre of the picture.

Which photos should I choose so that faces can be seen?

Clear photos with faces in the middle: a photo that fills a cell is cut to its shape, a little above the centre. A cell is most often square; a square or nearly square photo is cut without losing anything, a very long one loses its sides. Mix wide shots and close-ups, and put them in the order of your story.

Can all the photos be in black and white?

Yes, it is a choice: black and white applies to all the photos at once, and the preview shows it straight away. It brings together photos taken at different times or with different cameras.

Which size should I choose, and can I see the poster before ordering?

A4 is enough for a few photos; beyond a dozen, a 30 × 40 or larger lets each one be read. A4 and 30 × 40 are also available framed. The preview follows every photo you add and every keystroke, and it is exactly what gets printed: the photos, their order, the texts, the style.

What happens to the photo I upload?

It is only used to make your poster. It stays private, is never published or used as an example, and is deleted thirty days after the order is dispatched (or after purchase, for the print-ready file).
