Here the letters step back: MUM reads in white, one letter per line, over a mosaic of your photos. The Mother’s Day gift for when you have too many good photos for a single letter.

You upload one to twelve photos, laid side by side in a mosaic, and the letters of the word sit on top in white, one under the other — eight letters at most. Ten photos is the sweet spot: two columns, and each white letter runs between them without hiding a face. The word can be changed, and the line above, the signature and the date are yours. What you see is exactly what is printed; your photos are only used to make the poster and are deleted thirty days after dispatch.

What does the poster show?

A mosaic of your photos and, over it in white, the letters of the word — MUM, or the one you choose — one under the other, one letter per line. Above, a line (“We love you loads”), then a signature and a small line, for example a date. Four paper styles, and photos in colour or in black and white.

How many photos do I need?

From one to twelve. Ten give the best result: two columns of five, the white letter runs between them and hides no face. With one or two photos, the letter runs across the middle of the photo; with twelve, the tiles are smaller. The photos are numbered in reading order, top to bottom and left to right.

Why are the letters white, and can they be read on any photo?

They are light: they read as if cut out of the photo. On a very pale photo — a white sky, a wall — the letter is harder to read; a light shadow helps, but photos with some contrast are still the best choice. On the light styles the letters are the colour of the paper; on Night they are cream.

Can I change the word?

Yes, up to eight letters, with their accents: MUM, NANA, DAD, GRAN or a first name. A longer column would make each letter too small to read over the photos, and the editor tells you so. Spaces are ignored: it is always one letter per line.

Can I make all the photos black and white?

Yes, it is a choice: black and white applies to all the photos at once, and the preview shows it straight away. It brings together photos taken at different times or with different cameras.

Which size should I choose, and can I see the poster before ordering?

A column is tall and narrow: it reads well from A4 and takes its full place from 30 × 40 to 70 × 100. A4 and 30 × 40 come framed. The preview follows every photo you add and every keystroke, and it is exactly what gets printed: the photos, the letters, the text, the style.

What happens to the photos I upload?

They are only used to make your poster. They stay private, are never published or used as examples, and are deleted thirty days after your order is dispatched (or after purchase, for the printable file).
