Its portrait

The portrait is made by an artificial intelligence from your photo, in about thirty seconds. Each photo gets three tries, and the result is never the same twice; the image you see is the one that will be printed. The name and the line of text are written separately: you can change them without redoing the portrait.

Its name and noble title

Both optional, written exactly as you type them and placed on the poster. You can change them at any time, without redoing the portrait.

Full description

Your dog or cat as a royal portrait, like the great court paintings: crowned, draped in velvet, with a noble gaze, on a dark, aged canvas lit in chiaroscuro. From a photo, an artificial intelligence paints the portrait in the style of an oil painting, keeping its real animal face — its breed, coat, eyes, ears and muzzle.

You choose the costume before the portrait is made: king, queen, admiral or aristocrat. At the foot of the picture, a gold plaque carries its name and noble title — “Keeper of the Dinner Bowl”, “Admiral of the Treat Tin”, whatever you like: real text, written as you typed it.

The image fills the whole sheet, from A4 to 70 × 100 cm: on the 30 × 40 a little of the top and bottom is cropped, never the animal’s head or the plaque.

You upload the photo and the preview appears in about thirty seconds. You see what will be printed before you order: that image, and no other, is the one that goes to print. It is made by an artificial intelligence, and a likeness is not guaranteed; only the animal is used, and the rest of the photo disappears. The photo is never published and we delete it thirty days after dispatch — or after purchase, for the printable file. You get three tries per photo. Its name and the line that goes with it are real text, written exactly as you typed them: you can change them at any time without redoing the portrait.

Frequently asked questions

What does the royal pet portrait poster show?

Your dog or cat in the style of an oil painting, like the great court portraits of the eighteenth century: crowned or hatted according to the costume chosen, draped in velvet, on a dark, aged canvas, with its real animal face — its breed, coat, eyes and ears. A gold plaque at the foot of the picture carries its name and title.

Which costumes can I choose?

Four: king (gold crown and ermine cloak), queen (tiara, midnight-blue velvet dress and pearl necklace), admiral (feathered bicorn hat and uniform with gold epaulettes) or aristocrat (powdered wig, brocade jacket and lace jabot). The costume is chosen before the portrait is made; to see another, you redo the portrait (three tries per photo).

What is written on the gold plaque?

Its name and, underneath, a noble title of your own invention: “Keeper of the Dinner Bowl”, “Admiral of the Treat Tin”, “Royal Highness of the Nap”. Both are optional, written exactly as you type them, and you can change them at any time without redoing the portrait. Above them, the words “Official portrait” are fixed.

Is it a real oil painting?

No: the portrait is made by an artificial intelligence that imitates the look of an old oil painting. The poster is printed on matte paper; it is not a painting done by hand.

Does it work for a cat, or another animal?

Yes for a cat, as for a dog: the costume is adapted to the animal, which keeps its own face. We have tried dogs and cats; for a rabbit, a horse or a bird, we cannot promise anything.

Which photo should I choose?

A sharp photo where you can see its head, muzzle and eyes clearly, front-on or three-quarter view, in daylight. A phone photo is enough — JPG, PNG or WEBP, up to 25 MB. Only the animal is used: in our tests, people, the lead and the background of the photo did not appear on the poster.

Is the portrait made by an artificial intelligence?

Yes. An artificial intelligence makes the portrait from your photo, in about thirty seconds: it is neither a painting nor a drawing made by hand. You see the result before you order, and exactly that image is printed, in our workshop in Aveyron — nothing is redone or retouched between the screen and the paper.

What if the portrait doesn’t look like my pet?

You get three tries per photo; a sharper, front-on photo usually gives a better result, but a likeness is never guaranteed. The name and the line of text are written separately: you can change them at any time without redoing the portrait. Once you have ordered, the portrait you saw is the one that is printed; like any personalised poster, it cannot be taken back, except for a defect or a mistake on our part.

What happens to the photo I upload?

It is used only to make your poster. It is stored in a private space, never published, and we delete it thirty days after dispatch — or after purchase, for the printable file — together with the portrait. The location data of a phone photo is removed on upload. To make the portrait, the photo is passed to an artificial intelligence service (Google), which receives it for that purpose only.

Which sizes and frames are available?

A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm: standard frame sizes, easy to find. An optional wooden frame on A4 and 30 × 40, black, white or natural, with acrylic glass; the larger sizes are delivered rolled, to be framed at home. The image fills the whole sheet: on the 30 × 40, a little of the top and bottom is cropped.

What paper is the poster printed on?

250 g/m² satin matte paper, light-resistant pigment inks. Printed to order in our workshop in Aveyron, whatever the size. Shipped rolled, in a long rigid cardboard box; the A4 goes flat in a cardboard sleeve, and a framed poster in a cardboard box.

Can I receive the file instead of the poster?

Yes. The printable file contains all five sizes, each as a PDF and a 300 dpi PNG — ten files in all, via a download link sent after payment, so you can print it wherever you like.

How long does it take?

Printed and dispatched within 48 hours, then delivered to your home or to a pick-up point — the 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 can only be delivered to your home. The download link for the printable file is sent the same day.
