MARCEL ET LES BLONDES

Personalised life in weeks poster — one box per week, for a person or a couple

Create my print

A box is a week of seven days, counted from the start date. A row holds 52 of them, or 364 days: a year lasts a little longer, so the row for a birthday ends a few weeks before it. The number of weeks lived, though, is exact.

Their age in Martian and Jovian years: the “Your age across the solar system” print

Their age in days, Mondays and full moons: the “Bloody hell, you’re old” print

Tax included. Shipping €3.90 in France and the European Union, free from €49.

One box per week: 4,680 for a 90-year life, filled in from birth up to the week you are in — at 40, 2,087 are lived — with the weeks lived and the weeks left. The couple version, “Our weeks together”, counts 60 years from the day you got together. A first name, two dates.

First the object — medium, size, frame — then its content, which you watch take shape in the preview.

Full description

A life is about 4,680 weeks. The poster draws every one of them: 90 rows of 52 boxes, one box per week, filled in from birth up to the week you are in — circled — and the rest still empty. Beside it, two numbers: the weeks lived, and the weeks still to fill. At 40, you have lived 2,087.

A first name, a date of birth, and that is all: weeks are counted in calendar days, seven by seven, from the date. For a birthday, you choose the day of the party as the reference date. And “Our weeks together” is the couple version, on the same page: 60 rows, sixty years — the diamond anniversary — filled in from the day you got together. Four styles: ink, night, decade colours, neon.

  • 250 g matte paper, pigment inks, printed to order.
  • Five sizes: A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm.
  • Optional wooden frame on the A4 and 30 × 40, black, white or natural.
  • Or the print-ready file: all five sizes, each as a PDF and a 300 dpi PNG, by download link.

How it works

  1. One person or a couple, two dates

A life grid has 90 rows of 52 weeks; a couple’s has 60 rows (the diamond anniversary), counted from the day you got together. It fills in up to the reference date: today, or the day of a celebration.

  2. The style, a line of text

Ink, night, decade colours or neon, then a line in italics under the grid. It is optional.

  3. We print in Aveyron

To order, on 250 g matte paper: in our Aveyron workshop, whatever the size, and every poster is checked there before it ships. Or you receive the download link for the file by e-mail.

Frequently asked questions

What is an original gift for a milestone birthday, or for a couple, that makes you think without dampening the mood?

A “Your life in weeks” poster: one box per week, 90 rows of 52 for a life, filled in from birth up to the week you are in, the rest still empty. All it takes is a first name and a date of birth; you choose the day of the party as the reference date. There is a couple version too, “Our weeks together”: 60 rows, counted from the day you got together. It is made to order, in four styles.

How many weeks are there in a life?

A year is 52 weeks and a day or two, so 90 years come to a little under 4,700 weeks. The poster draws 4,680 of them: 90 rows of 52 boxes, or 89 years and 8 months. At 40 you have lived about 2,087 weeks; the exact figure depends on the leap years you have been through. The 90-year frame is the convention for this kind of chart, not a forecast.

How are the weeks counted?

In calendar days, midnight to midnight, from the start date — the birth, or the day the couple began — to the reference date: the number of days is divided by seven and rounded down. No average is involved, and neither the time nor the place of birth matters.

Why 52 boxes per row, when a year is a little more than 52 weeks?

Because a row of 52 boxes is 364 days and a year has 365.24: that is the price of columns that line up neatly. The row for an age therefore ends a few weeks before the birthday — about seven at 40. The number of weeks written on the poster is the true one, though: it is counted in days, not in rows.

What does the circled box mean?

It is the week in progress, the one that contains the reference date: it is not over yet, so it is neither filled nor empty. The boxes before it are weeks lived, the boxes after it weeks still to come. An arrow in the margin points to it.

Which reference date should I choose?

The page suggests today. For a birthday gift, enter the day of the party: a poster for a 40th counts up to the day of the 40th, even if you order it two months before. A future date is accepted up to a year ahead. The date is printed at the foot of the poster and is never recalculated after the order.

How does the couple version, “Our weeks together”, work?

Choose “A couple”, then enter two first names and the day you got together. The grid has 60 rows of 52 weeks, or 3,120 boxes — sixty years, the diamond anniversary — and fills in from that day up to the reference date. It does not stop at the time already spent together: for a couple of ten years that would be a small square, and what is still ahead is half of what the poster says.

Can it be given for a baby or a child?

Yes, from birth: a three-month-old already has a dozen boxes filled, one circled, and almost all the rest ahead. All that is needed is the date of birth.

What if the date goes beyond the grid?

A life grid stops at 90 years and a couple’s at 60: beyond that the page refuses the date and says so, rather than printing an entirely filled grid under numbers it does not show.

Is it sad to count your weeks?

Not for the people who receive it: the poster shows what is still to be done as much as what is done, with a great many boxes still empty and a line of your choice under the grid. The four styles — ink, night, decade colours, neon — run from restrained to cheerful.

Is what I see what I will receive?

Yes: the preview is built by the same editor as the print, and a “Check your poster” screen opens before the basket. The line at the bottom is printed exactly as written: you can change it or clear it.

Which sizes and frames?

A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm: standard frame sizes, easy to find. Optional wooden frame on the A4 and 30 × 40, in black, white or natural, with acrylic glass; the larger sizes ship rolled, to frame at home.

What paper is the poster printed on?

250 g/m² satin matte paper, lightfast pigment inks. Printed to order in our workshop in Aveyron, whatever the size. Shipped rolled, in a sturdy long cardboard box; the A4 travels flat, in a stiff card envelope.

Can I get the file instead of the poster?

Yes. The print-ready file contains all five sizes, each as a PDF and as a 300 dpi PNG — ten files in all, by a download link sent after payment, to print wherever you like.

How long does it take?

Your poster is dispatched within 48 hours, then delivered in six to seven days to Ireland and the rest of the EU (four to five in France) — to your home or a pickup point, home delivery only for the 50 × 70 and 70 × 100. For a fixed date, allow ten days outside France. The download link for the print-ready file is sent as soon as payment is confirmed.
