Full description

Your photo redrawn in a single line: a fine, continuous black line that never leaves the paper draws the faces, the hair and the shoulders — and joins up where people hold each other close. White background, no scenery. The names can be written underneath, with a line of text if you like: a date, a few words.

It makes a gift for a wedding anniversary or a wedding, for a birth — the family growing —, for Valentine’s Day, or the one grandchildren give their grandparents. A couple, a family, one person: on our tests, from one to four faces were drawn in full. Pets in the photo are not.

You choose the colour of the line — black, midnight blue, terracotta or sage green —, upload your photo, and the drawing appears in about thirty seconds. You see what will be printed before you order: that image, and no other, is the one that goes to print. The drawing is made by an artificial intelligence and a likeness is not guaranteed; the photo is never published, and we delete it thirty days after your order ships — or after purchase, for the print-ready file.

  • 250 g matte paper, pigment inks, printed to order.
  • Five sizes: A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm.
  • Optional wooden frame on the A4 and 30 × 40, black, white or natural.
  • Or the print-ready file: all five sizes, each as a PDF and a 300 dpi PNG, by download link.

How it works

  1. You pick the colour of the line

Black, midnight blue, terracotta or sage green: it only changes the ink of the drawing, never its shape.

  2. You upload your photo

A couple, a family, one person: a sharp photo where every face is easy to see. The drawing appears in about thirty seconds.

  3. Order what you've seen

The image on screen is the one we print, in our workshop in Aveyron. You get three tries per photo.

  4. We print in Aveyron

To order, on 250 g matte paper: in our Aveyron workshop, whatever the size, and every poster is checked there before it ships. Or you receive the download link for the file by e-mail.

Frequently asked questions

What does the single-line portrait poster show?

Your photo — a couple, a family, one person — redrawn in a single thin, continuous black line on a white background: faces, hair, shoulders, with lines that join where people hold each other close. The names can be written underneath in handwritten lettering, with an optional line of text: a date, a few words. Four line colours to choose from: black, midnight blue, terracotta or sage green.

Which photo should I choose for the one-line portrait?

A sharp, well-lit photo where every face is clearly visible, facing the camera or at three quarters. A phone photo is enough — JPG, PNG or WEBP, up to 25 MB. The background always disappears (the paper is white). On our tests, a bride and groom photographed full-length from a little way off were drawn too; the drawing then stops at the waist or the knees. With three tries per photo, you see the result before you order.

Is the drawing made by artificial intelligence?

Yes. An artificial intelligence draws the portrait from your photo in about thirty seconds: it is not an illustrator’s line. You see the result before you order, and exactly that image is what we print, in our workshop in Aveyron — nothing is redone or retouched between the screen and the paper. The colour of the line is applied to the drawing by our site, not by the AI: it is the same ink every time.

What if the drawing doesn’t look like my photo?

What we aim to keep are the features that make each person recognisable: the hairstyle, glasses, beard or moustache, a woolly hat, plaits, the age of a face. On our tests — a couple embracing, a family of four, grandparents with their granddaughter, four children, a man with glasses, a bride and groom — those features came through; fine details (the folds of a garment, a beard, a bouquet) are simplified or a little tangled. The drawing is made by artificial intelligence: the likeness is not guaranteed, and it is never that of a photograph. You get three tries per photo, in the line colour of your choice, and the names are written separately: you can change them without redrawing. Once you have ordered, the drawing you saw is the one that is printed; like any personalised poster, it cannot be returned, except for a defect or an error on our part.

How many people can be in the photo, and what about a pet?

On our tests, from one to four people were drawn in full: one person alone, a couple, a family of four with a child on his father’s shoulders, four children sitting together, two grandparents with their granddaughter. Two people embracing have their lines joined where they touch. We have not tried more than four. A pet in the photo is not drawn: in our test, a dog lying across a woman’s lap vanished from the drawing.

How do I give this portrait for a wedding, a birth or an anniversary?

Ask for a good photo of the couple or the family — from the big day, a dinner, a weekend — or pick one you already have. You see the drawing before you pay: if you don’t like it, try another photo rather than giving it as it is. Write the names underneath and, as the line of text, the date: “Married 6 September”, “Together since 14 June 2014”. For a wedding anniversary, a birth or Valentine’s Day, order at least ten days ahead; the print-ready file arrives by download link within the day.

Can I choose the colour of the line?

Yes, among four: black (the classic, selected by default), midnight blue, terracotta and sage green. You choose it before the drawing is made, at the top of the form, and it only changes the ink, not the way of drawing. Drawing it again in another colour draws the photo afresh (a new try, a slightly different line); until you do, the drawing shown is the one that is printed, in its colour.

What can be written under the drawing?

The first names or the family name (36 characters at most), in handwritten lettering in the colour of the line, for example “Emma & James” or “The Murphy family”, and an optional line of text of 48 characters at most: a date, a few words. These words are written by our site, not drawn by the AI: they are printed exactly as you typed them. You see everything before you order.

Is the line really in one piece?

It is the “one line art” style: a drawing that looks continuous, where the line seems never to leave the paper. It is made by artificial intelligence, and looked at very closely the line sometimes picks up again, or doubles on a garment or in the hair: we do not promise a single line in the strict sense, but the effect of one thin, even line, without shading or fill.

What happens to the photo I upload?

It is only used to make your poster. It is stored in a private space, never published, and we delete it thirty days after shipping — or after purchase, for the print-ready file — along with the painted portrait. Location data in a phone photo is removed as soon as it is uploaded. To be painted, the photo is sent to an artificial intelligence service (Google), which receives it for that purpose only.

Which sizes and frames?

A4, 30 × 40, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm: standard frame sizes, easy to find (IKEA, HEMA, Action, Desenio). Optional wooden frame on the A4 and 30 × 40, in black, white or natural, with acrylic glass; the larger sizes ship rolled, to frame at home.

What paper is the poster printed on?

250 g/m² satin matte paper, lightfast pigment inks. Printed to order in our workshop in Aveyron, whatever the size. Shipped rolled, in a sturdy long cardboard box; the A4 travels flat, in a stiff card envelope, and a framed poster in a cardboard box.

Can I get the file instead of the poster?

Yes. The print-ready file contains all five sizes, each as a PDF and as a 300 dpi PNG — ten files in all, by a download link sent after payment, to print wherever you like.

How long does it take?

Printed within 48 hours, then delivered to your home or a pickup point — home delivery only for the 50 × 70 and 70 × 100. The download link for the print-ready file is sent the same day.
